Traffic Routing

Smartlinks: one link that knows where every click should go

A Smartlink is a single URL that routes each click to the right offer based on geo, device and traffic source, with automatic fallback when an offer pauses or hits its cap. You place one link everywhere and change the routing behind it without touching a single page.

How it works

#

Each click that hits a Smartlink is evaluated in real time: where it comes from, what device it is on and which source sent it. Routing rules you define decide which active offer receives it. A German mobile click and a Canadian desktop click can leave the same link and land on different offers, each one eligible for that visitor.

Fallbacks are automatic. When an offer pauses, caps out or stops accepting a geo, the Smartlink reroutes affected traffic to your next eligible offer instead of a dead page. Clicks you already paid for or earned do not burn while you are asleep.

Split testing runs at the link level. Distribute a share of matching traffic across competing offers, compare results on FTDs and earnings rather than clicks, and shift the weighting when the data settles.

  • Per-click routing by geo, device and source
  • Automatic fallback on pause, cap or geo closure
  • Split testing across offers from one link
  • Full parameter passthrough into tracking

What it replaces

#

The usual alternative is hardcoded links: one URL per offer per placement, edited by hand across sites, emails and media buys every time a deal changes. Every offer pause becomes a scramble, and every link you forget keeps sending traffic to a page that no longer converts or no longer pays.

With Smartlinks, the link is permanent and the routing is what changes. Swapping an offer is a rule edit, not a content migration. The class of revenue loss that comes from stale links and unnoticed caps largely disappears, because the fallback logic handles it before you would have.

How it connects to the rest of the platform

#

Smartlinks route to offers you activated in the Offer Marketplace, so routing targets always carry known terms and validation criteria. Every click passes its parameters, including click IDs and source data, straight into Tracking, which means attribution survives the routing hop intact.

Downstream, that gives Analytics clean per-source, per-offer data to compare on FTDs and earnings per click rather than raw click counts. Routing decisions get made on what converts and pays, which is the only comparison that matters.

What the AI does here

AI in Smartlinks watches routing performance and flags what a rule set cannot see on its own: a geo where the fallback offer is outperforming the primary, a device segment leaking to a weak offer, a split test that has enough data to call.

It proposes routing changes with the evidence attached, in terms of FTDs and earnings rather than click-through rates. You review and apply; the link keeps working either way.

Questions, answered

Does routing through a Smartlink break attribution?

No. Parameters pass through the routing hop, including click IDs, and land in Tracking attached to the final destination. The click that becomes an FTD is attributed to the source and offer that actually produced it.

What happens to my traffic when an offer pauses or caps?

The Smartlink reroutes it automatically to the next eligible offer in your fallback order. No click hits a paused offer or a dead page. You define the fallback chain; the link enforces it in real time.

Do I lose control if one link decides where clicks go?

The opposite. You write the routing rules, the priorities and the fallback order. The Smartlink executes them per click, which is control you cannot get from hardcoded links, where the only rule is whatever you last pasted in.

Is a Smartlink slower than a direct link?

The routing decision happens server-side at redirect time, one hop like any tracking link. There is no client-side script or pixel involved, so there is nothing for a browser or an ad blocker to interfere with.
