About

An explanation, not a recommendation.

Almost everything written about online gambling is written to send you somewhere. Adfilius exists to explain how it works, including the parts that are inconvenient to say.

What this site is

A reference on how online gambling actually works: the rules of each game, the real probabilities behind them, what a return-to-player figure does and does not tell you, how bonus conditions are constructed, and who regulates what in which country.

It is written for people who want to understand what they are doing, whether they play occasionally, are about to start, or simply want to check a claim they read somewhere else.

What this site is not

It is not a gambling operator. It takes no bets, holds no money and runs no games. It is not an operator's storefront either: the casino section reviews and ranks operators on a published grid, the rest of the site explains the games without selling anything, and every link to the one affiliate partner, named below, is labelled as advertising.

It sells no method. There is no betting system that overcomes the house edge, and any page promising one is selling something. You will not find winning strategies here, because they do not exist.

How it is funded

This site is funded by a single affiliate partnership: Celsius Casino, an online casino that pays Adfilius a share of its revenue on the players who sign up through our link. Nobody pays for the content itself: no advertising inside articles, no paid placements, no sponsored pages.

Two rules follow. Every commercial link sits in a block labelled as advertising before you read a word of it, and explanatory content is written as if the partnership did not exist. How that separation works is set out in the editorial policy.

How it is written

Every claim that can be sourced is sourced, preferably to a regulator, a testing laboratory or the text of a law. Every page carries the date it was published and the date it was last checked. Mathematics is shown rather than asserted, so you can verify it yourself.

When something is uncertain or varies by country, the page says so instead of simplifying it into a comfortable answer.

On gambling itself

The house edge is structural. Over time, the mathematics favours the operator on every game described here, and no amount of skill or discipline reverses that on games of pure chance. Gambling is a paid form of entertainment, not a way to make money.

It is restricted to adults and carries a real risk of addiction. If it stops being a choice, help exists and it is free.

Playing should stay a choice.

If it has stopped being one, free and confidential help exists in every country this site is published in, independent of any operator.
