Rakeback

A loyalty mechanic that returns a fixed share of the house edge on every bet you place, win or lose, usually with no wagering requirement.

Where cashback pays on losses, rakeback pays on volume: each bet contributes stake times house edge to the operator's expected take, and rakeback hands a contracted share of that back. On a 1% edge game with 10% rakeback, every 100 staked returns 0.10, regardless of whether the bet won.

The structure comes from poker, where sites rebated part of the rake, and now anchors the loyalty programmes of the biggest crypto casinos, replacing welcome packages entirely at some. Its worth scales strictly with how much you stake: substantial for daily high-volume players, close to nothing for an occasional visitor.

Why it matters

Rakeback effectively lowers the house edge you pay without conditions, which makes it the meaningful number to compare across operators if you play volume, and a distraction if you do not.
