Each row of pegs sends the ball left or right with equal probability, so a 16-row board is just 16 coin flips. Landing in a slot k steps from the left happens in C(16, k) of the 65,536 equally likely paths: the centre is reached by thousands of paths, the far edges by exactly one each. That is why the middle multipliers hit constantly and the headline multiplier almost never.

The payout table is then built on top of that distribution. Centre slots pay below 1x, edges pay large, and the weighted sum of probability times payout comes out a little below 100%: that gap is the house edge, typically between 1% and 3% on crypto originals and printed in each game's info panel.

Choosing high risk does not change where the ball goes; it changes the payout table, pushing more of the return into the rare edge slots and less into the frequent centre ones. The RTP stays the same; the volatility rises sharply. Low risk is the same distribution paid flatter.
